About DocNotes

DocNotes is a collaboration between Murali Thavasothy and Dal Sandhu and aims to generate a consistent set of medical pocket guides. This is achievable due to the development of a database, a user-interface to interact with the database, and tools to generate the mobile-app itself. A generic and extendable set of tools exist such that details for other specialties may be added to the database, and apps generated from these details.

Author - Murali Thavasothy

Murali is a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, London

Murali has developed a rich set of training notes which he has provided to trainees over the last 10 years. Given the positive response these notes have had from successive trainees, and the popularity of the iPhone with his colleagues, he had the idea of delivering these notes as an iPhone app.

Developer - Dal Sandhu

Dal is a Software Developer currently working in the fuel retail sector. He has worked for many years in a number of other sectors: scientific, pharmaceuticals & NHS. Main areas of expertise are database (Microsoft SQLServer) and Web (Javascript, JQuery, KnockoutJS, MVC Razor C#), and now, iPhone/XCode!

Dal was approached by Murali regarding the development of this app and he decided this was an interesting area to explore. After understanding the information created by Murali, he developed a database to store this information, and the code required to drive the app from the database. The database is a generic design and could easily be used to hold content from other specialties and would then be used to generate new apps for those specialties.
